Welcome to our web site!

The Collegiate Middle Level Association (CMLA) is the campus organization for people interested in teaching all content areas in the middle grades    (6-9).

Appalachian was the national host site for CMLA for the 2001-2003 school years.  The National Collegiate Middle Level Association is a professional education organization for college students preparing to become middle level teachers.  We are currently planning on attending the NMSA conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota in November.

CMLA offers many wonderful opportunities for future teachers in the middle grades program, and it provides a great way to gain support from other students at Appalachian State who have the same goals.

Our goals include providing support and encouragement for students in middle level education, promote collegiate participation at national, state, and regional level conferences, and provide information about current middle level issues.

Quotation of the Week:
"Education is not filling a bucket, but lighting a fire."
                                -William Yeats
"If you rest, you rust."
                     -Helen Hayes
"If you think education is expensive, try ignorance."
"By learning you will teach; by teaching you will learn." -Latin Proverb
